Inspire Me Monday: "It's so ... black!"

Hey, sorry this is late and that I haven't been around this week, but I'm in a mad rush to prepare my apartment before an appraisal tomorrow. This week I was inspired by the spacecraft of Disaster Area from the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, specifically The Restaurant at the End of the Universe:

"That," he said, "that ... is really bad for the eyes ..."

Ford looked. He too stood astonished. It was a ship of classic, simple design, like a flattened salmon, twenty yards long, very clean, very sleek. There was just one remarkable thing about it.

"It's so ... black!" said Ford Prefect, "you can hardly make out its shape ... light just seems to fall into it!"

Zaphod said nothing. He had simply fallen in love.

The blackness of it was so extreme that it was almost impossible to tell how close you were standing to it.

"Your eyes just slide off it ..." said Ford in wonder. It was an emotional moment. He bit his lip.

(you can read the rest of the scene here.)

I'm a huge HHGTTG fan. :) Anyway, I wanted to do a black on black mani. Black matte base with shiny black tips and black rhinestones.

Pretty simple, really. Nubar Noir for the base polish, topped with NYC Matte Me Crazy and Noir again for the tips. The rhinestones are from a craft store. I would have used slightly smaller ones, but they weren't as reflective.

Happy Monday, everyone! Any other Douglas Adams fans out there?

Be sure to check out the fabulous Devilish Polish, for her Monday inspiration!
